Industrial-Grade Pressure Washers vs. Consumer Models: What’s the Difference?
1. Less harmful chemicals
Hot water usage for cleaning projects can cut down on the need for powerful but dangerous chemicals. Adding high pressure to the hot water will improve the effectiveness of the cleaning.
Cold water and hot water pressure washers have different applications. Cold water can be used as a brute force technique for projects such as removing paint or getting rid of mildew. To get a deep clean, you may have to introduce chemicals into the mix.
Hot water adds cleansing power to washing without the need for cleaning chemicals. The heat affects the problem area by warming up targeted dirt particles. The more kinetic the particles are, the easier they are to remove. No extra chemicals are needed.
2. Less water consumption
Hot water pressure could reduce the length of time your project requires by 35%. Also, even low capacity pressure washing is still 25 times more powerful than a garden hose. A pressure washer saves you water as well as time.
Pressure washers focus the force of the water, not the amount of water you are using. You could fill up a small volume pressure washer with water, turn it on, and hit the problem area without wasting a drop.
Compare this to the “bucket and rag” approach. You fill up a bucket with a gallon of water, haul the bucket out, and wash the problem area. Washing with a bucket and rag takes up your resources and, in the end, you pour out any unused water. The wasted amount goes on your water bill and the dirty water goes back into the environment.
3. Effective use of electricity
Electric washers often draw 1.5 kilowatts per hour to operate. This wattage would be about the same as running an air conditioner for an hour. However, if you were to use a pressure washer for about 20 minutes on the same spot, you may use only .5 kilowatts. This wattage is similar to running a ceiling fan on low speed for an hour.
While an electric pressure washer may use more resources than a simple bucket and rag, the environmental cost can be small. The power for using a pressure washer can easily be compensated for by getting rid of a comparable amount of kilowatts from the power you use in your daily services. Compensating by turning off other appliances can balance out your carbon footprint.
4. Eliminates possible airborne toxins
Mold, mildew, and other allergens can accumulate in the air quickly. Allergens can lead to environmental breakdown, which can damage your house or business. Suddenly, more allergens could start growing in the area.
A pressure washer can clean the area of allergens, then collect it in the water that hits the surface that is being cleaned.
